This guy didn't hang around long. I only had time for a few shots before he left.

Any help identifing this will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance..

Fly identification
Definitely Dictya sp. There are many species of Dictya in Louisiana (but not umbrarum). Genitalic examination is required to identify them to species.

Moved
Moved from Frass.

Frassed
Moved from Dictya.

UPDATE
Dictya umbrarum?

Here is all I could find about it so far aside from a few examples on BugGuide.

Here is one of the few examples on BugGuide already

Good work
I was going to volunteer the family, Sciomyzidae, but you have managed to take it beyond that already. Looks like a good match with D. umbrarum to me, now that you mention it. Nice work!

Thank you.
Thanks for confirming!

We have no page on BugGuide so I will move it to Dictya.

If anybody has any supporting or conflicting information, please feel free to comment.
