Metallic woodborer - Buprestis rufipes

Metallic woodborer - Buprestis rufipes
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA
August 22, 2007
Based on Eric Eaton's wonderful new insect guide this beetle looks like Cypriacis fasciata. There is no entry for this species on BugGuide, so if a contributing editor deems this ID correct, will you please add this one to the site? Thanks!

Cypriacis
The info page for Genus Buprestis mentions Cypriacis "back as a subgenus of Buprestis". I'm not sure how that subgenus is treated in this case on BugGuide.
Also look at Red-legged Buprestis (Buprestis rufipes)

Am not familiar w/ Cypriacis fasciata...
I think it's Red-legged Buprestis (Buprestis rufipes)...

...
I was going by the fairly new Kaufman field guide so that's why I was looking for Cypriacis and not Buprestis. Like I mentioned earlier, taxonomy will always be one of those things that keeps us turning in circles. You never know what's currently accepted. Thanks to everyone for the assistance on this one.

ahhhh
Good call, John. Taxonomy is one of those things that will always confuse the heck out of all of us due to its ever-changing nature.
