Waterlily Beetle - Galerucella nymphaeae

Waterlily Beetle - Galerucella nymphaeae
Turtle Lake, Alberni Valley, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada
July 2, 2007
Adult surrounded by immatures. Very common on lily pads in shallow lakes in the Alberni Valley.

Galerucella nymphaeae
nice picture! They look like pupae. Unusual for galerucines to pupate in the open on the leaves, but I guess there is no other place to go on a lily pad.
