pretty sure its a sarcophagid
These are very good photos, but calyptrate flies are hard to identify. For a better chance of an ID, I'd recommend taking photos of the side of the thorax and the base of the wing to see the distribution of setae.

Thanks Keith,
one of our goals for the upcoming season is to get photos of the right details for identification of our subjects. ID to species from photos will probably be a very rare event for tachinids, sarcophids and the like. We plan to maintain a collection of the specimens photograped to help increase the odds of at least getting to genus.
We always appreciate your help.

Not an ID, but does look like Sarcophagidae to me...
Nice comparison with your BG1485 photos, I think, with different arista (feathery in basal half on this one, bare on the other?) and different numbers of dorsal thoracic stripes. Or, I could be completely wrong! Again, very nice series of photos.

Thanks Ken,
I have enhanced and cropped one of the photos to more clearly show the arista. It appears that the plumosity extends beyond the basal half, but is not visible all the way to the tip. Possibly finer hair near the tip is not resolved on the photo. Might Complete plumosity point toward Calliphoridae? Most interesting. We appreciate your input!
