Size: 1.5cm Hindwing
The only specimen of a possible Pipunculidae found at the fossil site.

The environment which this specimen lived in was upland subtropical/temperate, think SE Asia and SE USA combined, subtropical mixed broadleaf forest with a strong coniferous segment

This is very cool. It certain
This is very cool. It certainly is a pipunculid. I would be very interested in borrowing this specimen and describing it with you (if we can ID it to genus). I am a scientist at the Canadian National Collection and a specialist on this group (). Drop me an e-mail if you would be interested in sending the specimen to me for examination. It would be great if we could put a genus name on it. Thanks for posting this! I would never have known about it otherwise.
