Negastrius ornatus (LeConte, 1853) - Negastrius ornatus
Carson Falls, Kern River, Tulare County, California, USA

Size: ca. 5 mm.
Elateridae

This was one of the larger specimens. They ranged down to 3 mm. (males?). They were collected running around on the surface of a fine sand beach. They looked interesting when I collected them, but under the scope they turned into little jewels.
