This beautiful beetle came out of the stump of a Chamise bush riddled with holes from wood-boring beetles. The old exit holes have been used by bees for nesting sites.

They are uncommonly encounter
They are uncommonly encountered, so I was excited to see her come out of the wood. Equally exciting would be to get the bee host association. So I await more emergence from the ligno-tuber.

The only bee to emerge was a
The only bee to emerge was a large dark blue Osmia (Megachilidae). I also got a Sapygidae from the wood. The Osmia were using the old exit holes of Polycaon stoutii (Bostrichidae) as nesting sites.
