Klondike Mountain Formation, 49 milliion years old, Ferry County, Washington, USA
November 15, 2007
Size: .45mm long
While not the most exciting specimens when fist looked at, this is the first specimen of a possible fungus gnat found at the fossil site. It is only .45mm long and .55mm tall. It is in the same layer which has the occasional Chironomidae?? Pupa.

The environment which this specimen lived in was upland subtropical/temperate, think SE Asia and SE USA combined, subtropical mixed broadleaf forest with a strong coniferous segment
