Fossil Coleoptera SRIC 01

Fossil Coleoptera SRIC 01
Klondike Mountain Formation, 49 million years old, Ferry County, Washington, USA
Size: 6.6mm long
This small but complete Coleoptera fossil shows that occasionally the mud shifted slightly before fully solidifying producing the small "cracks" that run across the specimen. Even so there are three legs and one ?antenna? partly visible, and which with very delicate work by experts can be exposed more fully.

The environment which this specimen lived in was upland subtropical/temperate, think SE Asia and SE USA combined, subtropical mixed broad leaf forest with a strong coniferous segment

May I suggest that you always include the word "fossil" either on the title or text? This would make a search simpler.

Great suggestion, Ive added "Fossil" to the titles of the relevant pictures.

Looking through the guide...
Looking through the guide pages this seems to belong in elateriodea, possibly Family Lampyridae?
