Size: ~2mm
Found this tiny beetle in our yard, on the lip of a large flower pot containing Penstemon. (live oak/chaparral habitat).

Not an ID
but looks like a ladybird beetle in the genus Psyllobora to me. See here, for example:

concur, P. vigintimaculata
location and elytra markings make this Psyllobora vigintimaculata.
