Fruit fly? - Chymomyza amoena

Fruit fly? - Chymomyza amoena
Springfield, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
May 5, 2005
Size: ~4mm
This fly was collected from a pear tree. It would periodically hold both wings up as it walked around. I'm guessing it's something from family Tephritidae, but I'm not sure.

Family Opomyzidae
Hello Richard,
I think this one belongs to the family Opomyzidae!
Some photo's of mine of European members of Opomyzidae are under this link:

Actually, no
This is a fruit fly (Drosophilidae) but of the genus Chymomyza, C. amoena. Breeding in rotting fruits (e.g., apples, chestnuts).
