Black Damselfly - Calopteryx maculata

Black Damselfly - Calopteryx maculata
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA
August 5, 2007
Three of these unusual black damselflies were seen with other common blue and brown individuals. These look like Calopteryx maculata but they did not hold their wings directly behind them. They kept them at the angle shown in this photograph.

Many reasons for different wing position,
youth, sunlight warming, reproductive readiness, etc., But you are correct thet this is a female Calopteryx maculata.
