Schistocerca nitens probably
I haven't got the experience to place species, but your two most likely candidates there would be S. nitens and S. albolineata. Late date would argue for S. nitens. Another choice would be S. shoshone, but that is usually down in the riparian and agricultural/rural areas in the valleys, and again would likely be earlier. It is definitely a Schistocerca, looks like a 3rd instar nymph.

But the eyes look like Bird Grasshoppers (Schistocerca) to me.
