* Comment by Eric LaGasa, Chief Entomologist in the Pest Program / Plant Protection Division of the Washington State Dept. of Agriculture:
"The current genus name for this and similar Oecophorids is very
confusing at this point. I just got a N.A. species checklist from J.F.
Landry (Ag Canada) that lists the species as Depressariodes ciniflonella
. . . so that makes three generic names I've seen (with Martyrhilda and
Exaretia). Since I've gotten all three names from credible taxonomists,
I don't know which is "currently correct", eh?
While I'm fairly sure we do have the same species in our pictures
(See MONA #0908),
I'm not positive it actually is ciniflonella. It may also be an Agonopterix
sp.. I need a male specimen to confirm the species (and genus actually)
and only have 2 females dissected at this point. I may have another
specimen or two stashed in my backlog drawers and hope to get to the
group sometime this year."
I choose to use the same taxonomic placement as Eric at this time.
