Limulodes paradoxus

Limulodes paradoxus
Sandia Mnts, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
April 15, 2005
Size: 0.7 mm
Cephaloplectinae (formerly Limulodidae the horseshoe crab beetles), are myrmecophiles. These were found with Lasius subumbratus ants (along with Adranes beetles). I used Seevers and Dybas, 1943 to get the species. Note the greatly expanded prosternum distinguishing it easily from some Staphlynids.
