Identification
It is difficult to differentiate the 3 species of Admestina without looking at the genitalia. Usually though a guess can be made based on the location.
A. wheeleri is found the furthest north: New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota, Canada.
A. archboldi is found the furthest south: Florida, Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana.
A. tibialis is found in between: Connecticut to Florida.
The genitalia of A. wheeleri and A. archboldi are extremely similar, while A. tibialis has an enlarged embolus in the male and corresponding large epigynal openings in the female.
