Illinois spider - Larinioides cornutus

Illinois spider - Larinioides cornutus
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
November 20, 2007
Set up her net near my garage light and did a lot of business with the locals--primarily small fry like midges.

Foliate or Furrow?
If this is actually a Foliate, why is it in Furrow Orbweaver?

Or are they just different common names for the same species?

I'm not in the know
I moved it to this species because of Carmen's comment on the genus.

Moved
Moved from Spotted Orbweavers.

I'm no expert...
...but I think this orb weaver may be a foliate spider in the genus Larinioides.

Thanks, Carmen
Looks like a ringer.

Was she actually sitting head up
in the web? It always seems so strange to us to see images in that position.

Nope
Sideways. I'm just so used to preparing images of moths that I rotated it. Sorry to disorient you.. :)
