Many of the Hemipterans from the fossil site are much larger then those found in the Republic area now. while this is generally considered normal for this period in time (late Ypresian, ~49million years ago, being he warmest point in the cenozoic) The forest paleoenviroment as equated as the predecessor of the modern northeast Hardwood forests and had a similer annuall temp. though there porbobly wernt more then a couple at most freezing days a year.

The environment which this specimen lived in was upland subtropical/temperate, think E Asia and NE USA combined, subtropical mixed broadleaf forest with a strong coniferous segment.
