On the wall of a rural fire station in the middle of wheat fields. It was early spring and the wheat was just sprouting.

Eleodes
Big one is Eleodes obscurus. The small one is also Eleodes but a different species.

Thank you! I love these big black beetles. These were known as stink bugs where I grew up in southern California.
