Beetle ID - Disonycha caroliniana

Size: 6mm
Found under piece of bark from dead tree. This little beetle can hop!

Moved from Disonycha.

Probably D. caroliniana. Although the specimen does not show any pronotal spots the coloration fits it.

The coloration of this specimen just does not fit the other caroliniana so I took it back through Blake's key using the couplet with part or all of the head dark instead of the entire head being pale. Obviously the head is not entirely dark but it is possible it has some darkness to it near the labrum. It keys down to D. arizonae using that route assuming the submarginal vitta unites with the sutural one.

Hops like a flea beetle
It might be one of these.

Thanks Tom....
The beetle in my image seems to resemble species Disonycha fumata more than any of the others. But not quite. This species is also only showing in Florida, so I'm a little too far north.

I'll leave it in ID a little longer to see if anyone else wants to chime in.

Thanks!
