Bowl and Doily? - Frontinella pyramitela

Bowl and Doily? - Frontinella pyramitela
DeSoto, Dallas County, Texas, USA
November 12, 2007
I think this is a Bowl and Doily Spider but want to be sure before I post it for a Texas representation.

Images of this individual: tag all
Bowl and Doily? - Frontinella pyramitela Bowl and Doily? - Frontinella pyramitela

Frontinella would have
been our suggestion

Yes!
That's what I thought too! Could it be something other than Frontinella pyramitela? That is the only one in the guide.

There is an old record
of another species from Arizona, so we would think that if it is Frontinella you are safe with pyramitela. The bigger caution is that there are some 50 genera in the Linyphiinae, so it's possible that it is a genus not yet represented on BugGuide! We think you are safe to tag and move it to F. pyramitela. That way all the BugGuide images will be in one place for a visiting Linyphiid expert who may finally be able to tell us more about this speciose family.
