Western Tailed Blue - Everes amyntula - Cupido amyntula

Western Tailed Blue - Everes amyntula - Cupido amyntula
Weaselhead Flats west end where the Bow River enters the Glenmoore Resevoir on the mud under the pedestrian bridge, Alberta, Canada
June 21, 2007
I believe this butterfly to be a Western Tailed Blue - Everes amyntula. If this is incorrect please advise.

I was very fortunate in taking these pictures. The butterfly was very patient and walked on the mud flat for about 15 minutes. Most of my pictures were of wings closed...then it decided to dance and I got a nice shot of its wings open. This is the same buttery fly in two poses.

Definitely correct
Lately there's a fad to lump Everes into Cupido, which causes some confusion. I personally don't have a strong opinion, but theydo look rather different to me. For now lumping them together is the popular treatment.

Moved from Butterflies.
