Shield-backed Katydid "Mormon Cricket" (Anabrus simplex) - Anabrus simplex - Female

Thousands of these were crossing the desert this day. This was the only one that was moving slow enough to photograph, but only because she was missing a back leg. Rattlesnakes were quite plentiful, also--probably dining on "mormon crickets".
