flea beetle - Disonycha procera

flea beetle - Disonycha procera
Bethlehem, New Hampshire, USA
May 9, 2005
Size: ~7mm

Moved
Moved from Disonycha uniguttata.

It is not pensylvanica, because legs partly red.
Both procera and uniguttata may lack a pronotal macula - but the latter as exception,
while in eastern populations of procera, it occurs frequently (Blake 1934).
The main point, however: No costae in females of D. uniguttata!

Moved
Moved from Disonycha pensylvanica.
Thanks Chris. These beetles can look so much alike.

Disonycha uniguttata?
I think this may be Disonycha uniguttata Say instead. I don't think D. pensylvanica has a pronotum which is this clear red without a median dark spot.
