Desmopachria
I'd say this is a Dytiscid, of the genus Desmopachria. They are small, and much more round than your typical Dytiscid. The one species from the northeast is pictured in the Guide, but Dr. Epler's ref. lists 7 from Florida. Unfortunately, this looks to be one of the several species that require male genitalia to determine.

Yes, this is a Desmopachria.
Yes, this is a Desmopachria. It's probably the common D. granum, but male genitalia would have to be dissected out (difficult to do with these tiny, round dudes) to be sure.

Thanks
Thanks Tim and John for the det.

It kind of looks like a Halip
It kind of looks like a Haliplidae. I don't remember seeing any photos of Dytiscids that are so round. Size would be good too, those things are tiny!!

Not Hap-y
The eyes are wrong and the underneath view bears no resemblance.

I knew I shouldn't have quest
I knew I shouldn't have questioned the wisdom of Jeff... it was just so pretty and roundy-looking. After I posted it I realized how different the eyes were though....
