red lily-eating beetles - Lilioceris lilii - male - female

red lily-eating beetles - Lilioceris lilii - Male Female
Pelham, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
May 13, 2007
Size: ~1 cm
These beetles covered my mother's tiger lilies last summer, riddling the leaves with holes. I assume they're some sort of chrysomelid, but I've never seen anything like them anywhere else.

How about
Lilioceris lilii, see

red beetles
they ruined my lillies does any know how to kill them?

That'd be the one!
I had a hunch they were introduced. I happen to think they're a pretty addition to the lilies, but my mother disagrees...
