thin waisted wasp - Ammophila nigricans

thin waisted wasp - Ammophila nigricans
Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA

On American Sycamore Platanus occidentalis. What do these eat?

Moved to species page - first BugGuide A. nigricans from Tennessee.

Ammophila.
This is not a bad image of what is probably Ammophila nigricans. As adults, they feed on nectar. The larva feeds on caterpillars, paralyzed and stocked in the cell by its mother. These are solitary wasps, so each female excavates her own burrow.

I agree with your A. nigricans ID
