Bumblebee mimic - Mallota bautias

Bumblebee mimic - Mallota bautias
Hilltown Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
May 12, 2005
Size: 12-16 mm
This bumblebee mimic doesn't quite look like the others in the guide (Laphria), so I would appreciate some help.
Southeastern PA

Could be...
a species of Mallota...

I'd agree.
Definitely a syrphid, Mallota is a likely possibility.

Thanks to both of you.
