Size: Maybe around 4 mm?
So one day I'm going through my folder full of Ichneumon Wasp photos, I try a little while to ID this one, but soon I realize that the halteres are going to make that difficult...

So one day I'm going through my folder full of Crane Fly photos, I try a little while to ID this one (Epiphragma maybe), but soon I realize that the long antennae may make that difficult, but maybe not impossible...

Soooooo, one day I'm going through my folder full of hopeless bugs... how about Predatory Fungus Gnats (Keroplatidae)? Some look like this and some have long antennae, maybe some are both! But maybe some other wasp mimic?



I'm not 100% sure if I got the size correct.

WIERD!
That's what I love about this place is you never know what people will send in!
I has the antenna of a wasp almost, but it has a pair or halteres.
I never knew such a fly existed!

Possibly
I wonder if there are any mycetophilids with similar antennae. Without seeing the wing venation I can't say with certainty it isn't one. Neat find.
