Mosquito - Culiseta - female

Mosquito - Culiseta - Female
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
February 29, 2008
Size: 6mm (1/4")
I think this is a Mosquito. Please help with ID.

Moved
Moved from Mosquitoes.

fine image,
but without seeing the tip of the abdomen or at least a closeup of the thorax to determine the presence of hair before thoracic spiracles, it is hard to determine even a genus.

Mosquitoes are hard, but I feel bad not IDing what people post up. I don't mean to ask much either, but a few shots from different angles would be fantastic (eg. dorsal and lateral)

...
I would guess some kind of Culiseta. Perhaps inornata. The downcurved proboscis is notable.

My instinct is the same.
With the downcurved beak, Culiseta is a good bet.

Not an ID
but I think there is a longitudinal groove on the dorsal thorax, which might suggest a midge instead of a mosquito? Do you have a close-up of the antennae by any chance?

Female mosquito.
Even biting midges don't have beak-like mouthparts like this.
