Ants swarming on stump - Lasius aphidicola

Ants swarming on stump - Lasius aphidicola
New Hampshire, USA
September 8, 2006

Moved
Moved from Lasius nearcticus.

Lasius sp. (cf. Lasius nearcticus)
One of the late-swarming species with yellow workers (subgenus Chtonolasius of last century authors). Females (the large brown winged individuals) will overwinter and then look for Lasius alienus or Lasius neoniger colonies to parasitize next spring.

Lasius subgenera
According to the Online Catalog of Ants of North America, L. nearcticus and others are now placed in subgenus Cautolasius while species such as L. umbratus are still placed in Chthonolasius. Based on this, would you revise the placement of either the image above (which is currently placed at species level--not sure how it got there) or this one?
