Grass spider.
From the markings on the abdomen, and the long spinnerets, I'd hazard that this is a male or immature grass spider (or funnelweb weaver) in the family Agelenidae. There are several genera, and I don't know enough to be able to say which one this belongs in. Even the family is at best an educated guess, but a good place to start:-)

Thank you! With a little research into the family and closer inspection, I can confidently say I've found a male Tegenaria domestica. He's starting to build a web in the jar, too. I think I'll release him soon. Again, thanks for your help!
