Cut some blossom & brought it into the house, then noticed a cocoon on the branch. Two weeks later, it hatched - unfortunately we were out at the time. This guy was the result - quite fuzzy & buzzed when flipped over! See next three photos including the empty cocoon. Think it may be a Trichiosoma?? Looks like this photo of Lynnette's:

Yes.
Your genus ID is correct, and the species is triangulum. This specimen appears to be a female. Males have modified hind legs and a narrower abdomen, with huge jaws. Nice find, including the cocoon:-)
