Clown Beetle? - Saprinus

Clown Beetle? - Saprinus
Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida, USA
March 21, 2008
Size: 5mm
I believe this is a hister beetle perhaps a Saprinus sp. Confirmation would be wonderful. This beetle was attracted to dung in a rural area. It is a shiny green which the flash washes out and makes this beetle look black. I have a natural light photo for color only as it has truer color, but is not as sharp and detalied. (Lower aperature) I did not see this one in the guide.

Definitely Saprinus...
but unfortunately I cannot put a species name on it without a really good image of the pygidial margin or getting my hands on the specimen. This is either S. profusus or S. pensylvanicus (images from Alexey Tishechkin's excellent 'HISTERID BEETLES (COLEOPTERA: HISTERIDAE) OF LOUISIANA' page).

Must be nice to be able to go out and find histerids. We just got blasted by a snowstorm again yesterday:(
