Scutigera coleoptrata - House Centipede - Scutigera coleoptrata - Male
Bloomfield Hills, Oakland County, Michigan, USA
March 25, 2008
Size: 1.75"
My cat and daughter found it...I captured it and photo'd it, then let him go.

I used a Pentax K10d and a 1:1 vivitar macro.

My normal method of trapping the subject on a platform surrounded by water in my light tent to photograph it didn't work so well with this guy. They have little fear of water...he almost killed himself trying to escape ( I thought he was dead). I was snapping pics of what I thought was a dead centipede when the little bugger came back to life in my viewfinder.
