This large-ish fly was visiting our picnic table in Yosemite. At first I thought it was a horse fly, but now I'm wondering about one of the Chalcosyrphus hoverflies after looking at images in BG...

Probably right
I also think that it is a Chalcosyrphus sp.. Look like C. pigra to me, but since I don't know the hover flies of California, I can be wrong.
