San Jose/ Guadalupe River Park, Santa Clara County, California, USA
March 27, 2008
Size: just under 1/4 inch each
We were looking for Macro Invertebrates in our River and came across these eggs. Any way to get an ID? We are seeing CaddisFly larvae, but have never seen the eggs. We saw several clusters, some with 10 or so eggs all the way up to the photo attached.

Moved from ID Request. Determined to be not an arthropod:-)

possibly frog eggs
These look a lot like the bullfrog eggs I used to see in our pond in Cottonwood, CA. Are there any adult frogs on the banks of the river?

yes
Frog or salamander. I would need a closer look to be sure. I sometimes see caddisfly larvae eating these.
Caddisflies do, incidentally, lay eggs with a gelatinous coating, but not nearly so large.
