Blister beetle - Tricrania sanguinipennis

Blister beetle - Tricrania sanguinipennis
Athens/ State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Clarke County, Georgia, USA
March 22, 2008
Size: about 18 mm
This lovely beetle was running around on the stone wall next to a bog garden. Anyone know what it might be?

That was quick!
Thank you all for the helpful information. :-)

When you see a head that wide on a slender neck
it's almost always a blister beetle, family Meloidae.

Blister Beetle??
I think it's a blister beetle of the family Meloidae.

correct,
Tricrania sanguinipennis - one of my favorites :)
