Facial foveae.
This head shot shows the striking pale bands of hair lining the inner orbits of the eyes. The hairs hide a structure called the "facial fovea," essentially a shallow trench. Still the contrasting 'stripes' of hair on the face easily distinguish female Andrena from female Halictus (at least until the bee ages and the hairs rub off:-).
