A pile of tenebs

A pile of tenebs
Cool, El Dorado County, California, USA
December 26, 2007
Here are five of the darkling beetle species I collected in Cool, Calif. at Christmastime. Most were under boards or logs lying on the ground. I kept a good many live ones in a rearing container, feeding them rolled oats about once a week and some, at least, have produced offspring. I have segregated obvious larva types so larval images can be added for each species, providing they mature of course.
