Black and Yellow Butterfly - Papilio polyxenes - male

Black and Yellow Butterfly - Papilio polyxenes - Male
Eustis, Lake County, Florida, USA
April 5, 2008
Size: 3 inches

Moved
Moved from Black Swallowtail.

I think it is a polyxenes, not palamedes
Palamedes Swallowtail (Papilio palamedes) is close. However you need to look at the yellow dots on the head, thorax and abdomen. The specimen in the picture has the dots pointing to “Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes),” wereas (Papilio palamedes) has stripes.

Black and Yellow
butterfly appears to be Palamedes Swallowtail, Papilio palamedes.
