Ichneumonoid and aphids - female

Ichneumonoid and aphids - Female
Springfield, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
May 16, 2005
Size: approx. 3-4mm
This tiny ichneumonoid was photographed among a cluster of aphids on a rose bud. The wasp appeared to be depositing eggs on the aphids, bending it's abdomen and stretching it a considerable distance to reach the prey in front.

It could be the same species as this.

Great shot
Wow, what a great shot. Great posture, great antennae. You're getting some excellent results on these diminutive subjects.

Braconidae.
I agree completely with Stephen's compliments on the image, just disagree with the ID. This is a braconid wasp.

Aphidiidae?
Could this actually be an Aphidiid wasp (aphid parasites)? Compare with the images at Cedar Creek.

Yes.
Moving to appropriate guide page. Thank you for the prompt!
