Chrysomelidae - Bassareus lituratus

Chrysomelidae - Bassareus lituratus
Bastrop State Park, Bastrop County, Texas, USA
April 6, 2008
Size: ~7 mm
I have no idea beyond that.

Moved
Moved from The Casebearers.

Bassareus literatus (Fabricius)
I´ve taken a closer look at this one. All the Cryptocephalus, including trivittatus don´t seem to fit and I think it is Bassareus literatus after all. Its elytra are blackish with variable number of stripes or no stripes at all. So it seems it could be within variation of this species.

Thanks
Rob. I'm glad you could figure it out in the end. I'll ask for a new guide page.

Cryptocephalus
a species from the genus Cryptocephalus (only striped Bassareus is literatus ) Maybe this is Cryptocephalus trivittatus

Well,
it has three stripes on each elytron.

Moved
Moved from Leaf Beetles.

Cryptocephalinae
Looks related to this one.

Thanks for the help.
Should I move it to that genus?

If it was mine,
I'd leave it at subfamily till one of the leaf beetle experts had a look.
