Sawfly Larvae - Neodiprion

Sawfly Larvae - Neodiprion
Norfolk, Virginia, USA
April 13, 2008
Size: ~8mm
I believe these are the larvae of Diprion similis. I do not know what the small larva is on lower left near the posterior ends of other three that are feeding. Possibly very young or dead?

They're stripping that pine needle like a corn dog :^)

Moved
Moved from Conifer Sawflies.

Neodiprion sp.
This is probably a Neodiprion sp., possibly sertifer or possibly the Black-headed sawfly (Neodiprion excitans), although these larvae do not have a black spot on the "tail." There is another larvae image here.

Thanks Chris...
I moved the image to Neodiprion genus page.
