Moth - Prionoxystus robiniae
Sanger, Fresno,county County, California, USA
April 11, 2008
Size: approx 2 to 2/12 inches

No idea :(
Just wanted to say that it is a interesting looking moth and a nice clear image! You should have no problems getting an ID.

Welcome to BugGuide!

Our first thought is one of the Carpenterworms
in the Cossidae, see Prionoxystus robiniae - Carpenterworm Moth - Hodges#2693 here, for example, but we don't know the species in California.
