Unknown Beetle - Moneilema gigas

Unknown Beetle - Moneilema gigas
Tucson, Pima County, Arizona, USA
April 8, 2008
Size: See quarter for scale
I found this on my carport in Tucson, nestled against a box of mothballs, of all things. It was very slow and sluggish. Note the single sharp projection from either side of the thorax, and the white segment in each antennae. Can anyone identify this? I released it into a bed of aloe. I include 3 photos.
