Assassin Bug - Zelus luridus

Assassin Bug - Zelus luridus
Sand Springs, Osage County, Oklahoma, USA
April 18, 2008
Size: 12.69mm (1/2")
This assassin bug was sucking a fly dry. Then, all of a sudden, another fly happened by and it reached out and grabbed it too. Then it let the first fly go (which was already dead) and started in on the fresh one. It didn't like me watching I guess so it tried to hide.

Looks like Zelus, and I don't believe it's a nymph.
I think the spikes on the thorax are telling, but I'm not sure what they're telling! Critter appears to have full-on wings, ruling out nymph.

Yes.
This is an adult male Zelus luridus. Greedy little guy...:-)
