yes it keys as T. bacharidis in the key from Downy and Arnett. Did you find it on groundsel bush?

The leaf that is in the picture is the leaf I found this beetle on but I have no idea what type of plant it was.

I usually shoot natural (no moving or arranging subject or plant). I was laying down watching a wasp attack a fly larva and happened to look up and see this beetle on the bottom of the leaf. I was shooting with the sun behind the subject with a stiff breeze. Because I had never seen one of these beetles before I didn't want to miss the shot. I managed to break the branch from the plant after the first shot and lay it on the ground to get better pictures without scaring the beetle away.

Plant... the photo is not Groundsel-tree (Baccharis halimifolia); looks like Small Ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia).
