Rough Day (Sawfly ID) - Dolerus

Rough Day (Sawfly ID) - Dolerus
Norfolk, Virginia, USA
April 18, 2008
Size: 7mm
Ooops! This sawfly (I think) would fly into this spider web and eventually free itself. The spider did not even attempt to catch it. Just hanging there, seemingly oblivious to the commotion going on nearby. I noticed that the sawfly kept doing this, but there was a pine tree close by and maybe they were attracted to it?

There was another spider of the same species in the web, so maybe it had other things in mind :^)

Just curious about the sawfly ID.

The spider looks like
Neriene radiata, see

It does resemble....
the one in my image. I have a pic of the male and female together. If it is good enough quality, I will add it later.

Thanks!
