Silvery Centipede - Scolopendra polymorpha

Silvery Centipede - Scolopendra polymorpha
Mount Tamalpais, Marin County, California, USA
April 23, 2008
Size: 6cm
Never seen a silver centipede before. I can't find anything similar in the BugGuide, but it most closely resembles the "tropical centipedes" (though I don't think they live around here).

Thanks for the replies.

NP
dont be surprised if you find others with more blue to them or even a greenish, ive noticed individuals living in a location can vary quite a bit in coloration

Re: NP
Yeah, they seem to be pretty variable in their range (hence the "polymorpha" I guess)... The ones I see in the guide don't look quite as silvery as the one I found; I don't know if that is an age thing or if it's just the way that particular individual is colored.

that be
Scolopendra polymorpha

Scolopendra is correct
I'm pretty sure. Rowland S. may even be able to tell you the species.
